Front motor mount Problem???
I've been working on the coupe for a month now. One problem I found right off was the hand crank would not hook up to the motor.
The motor seemed to high up or too low? Well I was installing engine pans (fun) I saw the cotter pin was not in the front mount and the nut was not on very far. Ah-Ha I ran the nut on up and that pulled the motor down. Hand crank went right on in with ease! Weather is looking good for the weekend so first start might happen. |

Re: Front motor mount Problem???
The bottom of the yoke should float about an 1/8 inch above the cross member. You might put a jack under the pan up front with a wood block to just support the front of the engine and loosen the bolts at the rear mount to flywheel housing and reset it so it does. Just pulling it down could be putting a bind on the rubber pads between the frame and mounts.

Re: Front motor mount Problem???
Thanks,I've got the rear rubber pads sitting on the running board to replace them already. I refer to Marco's site and my books whenever I tackle any job just to see if I forgot something. I used the J.S. to find the info on enging pans, turns out I have a pair of orignal pans in my pile.
Now that I can turn the motor by hand....I see the water pump is stuck. |

Re: Front motor mount Problem???
For what it's worth, my front motor mount was badly worn and missing the springs so i bought a new forged front motor mount and springs from Snyders and it fit perfectly. I had seen the information about bad springs that were too long and the ones i had ordered were the proper length. After tightening the bottom nut just enough to install the cotter pin everything lined up just as it should.
