Default Looking for detail article on Shock identification

I am recalling there was an article in one of the National Club magazines on shock absorber identification. It went further then the JS on production dates and details.

The article had a bunch of pictures of the front and back of the shocks and listed the years. I have gone through the index and checked most of the references, but did not find it.

Am I crazy? Was there such an article?

If there was such an article could someone please point me to it.

Thanks!

Curious as well. Only about 40% of the shocks I have conform to the pic's in the JS. Rod

The article is in the May/June 2012 Restorer; it was prepared by Steve Schmauch, Spokane, WA ; Steve is on the Judging Standards Committee for MAFCA.

The article only covers Houdaille Shocks. Steve has also prepared the same information on the other shocks, National Acme, Spicer, Ford, and Canadian.

When the Standards are revised I believe all the information will be included ?

Kevin: the article you want is by Rob Mills, titled, "Model A Shock absorbers" Nov.-Dec 2007 Model A News. Vol. 54 number 6. Pg. 18. I'm looking at it. Great photos of fronts, backs, packing nuts, lock rings, pipe plugs, etc. etc. all years from beginning to end. It's also in the long list that Pluck listed above. mike

Well it seems the printed copy of the index I keep with my magazines was a bit out of date.

Thanks for all the references I will be looking them up.
