Default stainless steel running boards

I'm posting for a pal...who has a pair of '31 passenger car running boards that are 100% stainless steel; trim, tread area, and bracket cages on the bottom...all stainless steel.
He bought them at Sacramento Vintage Ford in the mid 1980's.
Can anyone comment on this...ever seen such a thing?

thanks for your input, I will pass it along.

I believe it is the trim that is stainless.

Dave,
the entire running board is stainless; trim, part where the mat goes, bolt cage thing for the running board brackets...everything is 1 piece of stainless steel; the whole thing, not just the trim.

It is amazing that the all stainless steel running boards cost less than most carbon steel with matted rubber and trim.
I think there is a misunderstanding somewhere.

the r-boards that Sac Vintage Ford now sells are plain steel with stainless trim, just like any other vendor offers.
The boards my friend bought in the 80's are 100% stainless steel, every inch of them, not just the trim. Top, bottom, trim, nut cages, everything.
