Default Flatty Friday: This Crusty Flatty then. Will it Run??

So it's the one you've been waiting patiently for.

The Crusty Flatty is finally in a position to attempt a start.

Probably better let the video do the talking.

Please watch directly in YouTube so the like and subscribe buttons are available.

I'm trying to build the channel so thanks if you can support by clicking the buttons. It helps the algorithms.

Cheers then!

Mart.

Hey Mart - noticed that when you were cranking it over earlier in the video that there was some blow-back through the carb. What this usually tells me is that an intake valve is not seating correctly. This can be due to adjustment, or it is leaking on the compression stroke. If you're having a bit of back-firing . . . this could surely be the issue. Just wanted to point that out to you . . .

You might do a compression check on all cylinders . . . and if you just happened to have a leak-down setup, I'd leak it down to see where the valve sealing issue exists. You may also be able to isolate it by pulling one plug wire at a time and see if the backfiring goes away.

Thanks for the response, fellas.

As there is a delay with getting the videos out, I have already been able to work out what was wrong with the motor. All will be revealed in an upcoming video.

Thanks again.

Mart.

Looking and sounding good Mart. Those Ford starters are tough. I had to use 12 volts to the starter when I was first getting the 52 Merc started after it's long rest in the woods. Now its back to starting easy on six volts.

Happy to see it running.
Incidentally, your static issues while recording may possibly be caused by florescent lights if you have them.

It was great to hear it run gives me a little hope I can do the same with my 8ba. It's very cool to watch it from beginning of the process to the end.
