dismantling a 1941 Ford car rear end

I am mid stream in process of dismantling a 1941 Ford (car) banjo rear end. I had been following advice from an article I found that was written about a Model A rear end. No mention in it about the center bearings in the torque tube. I had advice on removing the bearings and race from the end of the torque tube but now am adrift to figure out how to first remove the center bearing set. Do you push it out the opposite direction (to the back) somehow? My plan was to replace both bearing sets. Any advice or how-to articles you could share with me? Thanks.

Burt, First you need to get the Ford service bulletins for the late 32 to 40-41 rear end. The pinion bearing and other parts are way different than model A even though they look a lot alike. As to the center bearing, they are usually not bad and most people do not replace them as there is no need to. It really carries little load. All of the rest of the bearing should be replaced . If you do have a bad center bearing , Skip Haney of coil fame makes a replacement center bearing and instructions on how to replace it. First get the service bulletins.

The zerk fitting is what holds it in place. Remove the zerk and it will come out. New bearing must be indexed exactly to line up with the zero hole.
