Default Chasing the elusive spark

Just a note that I am attempting to fire the Model A up after at least 10 years of "rest" in a garage or two. Followed the ignition troubleshooting guides after installing completely new wiring harnesses and switches. No joy, so changed the condenser and coil for new from Bratton's. The points looked good on inspection while installed, so opted to go with filing them and trying to start. Did run the ohm meter checks as required with OK results. Buttoned all back up and off we went, dragging the buggy up and down the airport without even a hint of spark. Back to the barn and further investigation. Here's where experience in the form of a long-time Model A restorer pays off: I had asked Bob Scholtes to drive the pick-up dragging the Woody. He was on hand with invaluable advice while we troubleshot the troubles. Turns out, he discovered that the points were burned just enough and the micarta points arm was worn just enough and the spring just weak enough that we never were getting proper point opening to fire the coil/plugs. Bob has a set of new old style points which we'll install this morning. IF we've licked the demons I will post a photo of the first engine run tonight. Far from ready to hit the road, but closing in on summer's sunny trails in a 1929 Station Wagon Delivery - aka the Woody.

if your ohm meter tests were done properly it would have shown that the points were faulty. its always good to consult with your local guru to avoid add'tl parts replacing
looking forward to your photo
