Default Walt DuPont's latest builds

Here are four engines Walt DuPont just finished in the last two to three months. The first is a 1937 21 stud with 1936 heads and 1/8 bore. The red one with three carbs is a vintage stock car engine, 276 ci, 400jr cam, 12lb. aluminum flywheel, Offy 400 heads, with a 10 to 1 CR. The other red one is a stock 1950 with a 1/8 bore, 260ci. The four carbs he just put on his 1940 coupe motor but hasn't fired it up yet. He says he's having too much fun. Walt does excellent work.

Very nice indeed. Well done Walt. Were those built for Fordbarners? Just curious.

Hope to drop my Walt Dupont built 59AB in the frame next month after I get the cab back. Been busy and very little time to work on the 39 project, slowly getting there

Lone Folf. It's in a channled 40 coupe I built over 30yr's ago. T-5 trans 9in. rear w/3:50 gears. Engine 276, reground track cam something like a L-100, ported and relieved, 1.600 intake valves, .030 valve angle, old set of Edelbrock heads that had been milled so much the pistons hit the heads, had them domed for .040 piston clearance, valve pocket work for .060 valve clearance. To much compression 160#, had to weld up the slots in the crab for about 17 degrees total. had an old McCulloch super charger on it for 10 yr's, got tired of looking at it, never ran a hood. Ran a super dual for couple of yr,s, got 24 MPG on turnpike, figured if I put on 4 carbs I,d get twice as much milage, LOL Walt

Lonewolf, I forgot the Strom jet and power valve size. I have it out in the shop. I had Uncle Max built the carbs for my engine and the way I drive, street rod, direct linkage. I'll let you know how it goes in 2-3 week, snow has almot gone. Walt

I would be curious to know how the straight linkage works out. I have decided to go with straight linkage on my 276 with 3- 97's, L-100. Am putting in 43 jets, 69 power valves.

Walt's 4x2 rig has .042" main jets in all four, with #67 powervalves in the two center carbs and #69 pv's in the two end carbs. The only way to use one of these manifolds, since it uses small balance tubes instead of an open plenum, is to use straight linkage. If it runs like the last setup I did, he should be all smiley!

My 4 97's have .042 jets on all 4 and the end carbs have #69 PV and the middle carbs have #67 PV. Straight linkage. Walt

... Walt - Looks like you were racing out to your shop while I was thumbing through my logbook. I keep a record of who get's what in the way of jets and pv's. Unlike my memory, the logbook has saved my ass many times.

That's a good thing Max. When you get my age it don't hurt to tell your friends you secrets because they cain't remember them either. I want to bragg alittle. I just called the guy today that owns the Vintage stock car engine with the 3 carbs. I wanted to know if he had started it yet. He said he just fire it up a couple of day ago and it runs and sounds great, good oil pressure and the 94's run great. I used 49 jets and 4.5 power valves and straight linkage. I cain't wait to se it and hear it. Walt
