Default Running board mounted air pump.

Just wondering if anyone has seen a running board air pump. I bought one at an antique store for $35 and all I had to do was clean it up and paint it. Not sure for what year of car it goes to but it sure works great. I have it mounted on the rear drivers side running board and the air hose actually reaches the rear tire. It uses a twist on clamp to hold it on. I can get pictures if any one wants to see it.

Now you have to find one for the other side of the car. A picture for all to see would be nice.

It is portable but heavy. I will try to get pictures of it tomorrow if we don't get hit with a real bad ice storm tonight.

What powers the air pump?

It has a pump handle. I took a picture of it this morning and am trying to post it.

The tire pump is a 1916 model.. Highland Pump MFG Company Chigago Patent #1191510A Not a bad buy for $35. I love this pump. It works really well.

FYI. Some of the pre-World War One cars of exceptional value, had mechanical driven air pumps. That was of course, due to inferior rubber tire technology and frequent flats.
I’d love to see a picture. Very cool piece of history.

Yes they did. One big cause of flat tires was horse shoe nails. Just about every early motorcycle I have come across has a tire pump for just that reason
