Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
The front views show the difference in the 114 and 118. The 114 looks like a Ford with a Mercury grille. Which is pretty much what the 49 Meteor was. `

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
I have another question. When you compare the front and rear pictures of this Canadian 1948 Mercury 114 Coupe, the Front and Rear Bumpers seem to be exactly the same? On the 118 " Mercury, the front Bumper comes to a distinct point at the centre and is a totally different from the Rear Bumper . My question is are both the Front and Rear Bumpers on the Mercury 114 shared? |

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
In Post 64, I suggested that the Front and Rear Bumpers for the Canadian Mercury 114 were one and the same. In other words, the same Part Number Bumper was used in both positions. Now, in a previous Post, this lovely 1948 Mercury 114 Sedan Coupe was submitted. However, now that I look at it closely, I believe that it has the wrong Front Bumper for the Mercury 114 models. I would suggest that the Front Bumper on this example is off the regular "full size" Mercury that were on the 118" Wheelbase. Compare the above two photos. Am I right or wrong? |

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
I think you are right. That bumper with the turned up "ears" at each end only shows up on the full size 47-48 Mercury in my books.

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
Looking at that Monarch in Post 70, I think that the lower Grille Pieces are off a Mercury, as they have two bars, while on the Monarch, they only have a single bar. Am I correct? |

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
According to the Zavitz book some Monarchs did come with the extra lower grille bar so this one could be original.

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
Canadian 1947 Mercury 114 Sedan. Compare the Front & Rear Bumpers. They appear to be identical? The Front Bumpers on the USA and Canadian Mercury with the 118" Wheelbase have a completely different Front Bumper. On these 118" Mercs, the Bumpers are not interchangeable. However, it is my belief that on the Mercury 114 models, they are? |

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
Can anyone confirm my suspicions that the Front and Rear Bumpers on the 1946-1948 Mercury 114 are identical?
Refer to my previous Post for photos of the Front and Rear of a Mercury 114. |

Would it be as easy as checking a part number? What am I missing? B.

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
Does anyone in Canada have a Parts Book that they can check up the Part Numbers for the Front and Rear Bumpers on these Canadian Mercury 114 models? It would be interesting to know if they are the same Part Number?

Advertisement for the Canadian 1947 Mercury 114 model.[/QUOTE] Thats a nice ad I've never seen before. Checked my fast moving parts catalogue and they don't have much to say about Mercury bumpers. This page pretty well sums it up.
