I call our 46 the "old girl". After a nice long drive and home safely, I pat her on the fender and say "good old girl". Then I get funny looks the next day when I tell my friends (yes, I have friends) that me and the old girl had a great ride last night. They give me a smile and I get that "look" from my bride of 54 years. LOL

I can't bleeve this thread still runs, IMHO no. Only some machines with a special role or meaning to our families or friends. Most of the many many vehicles I've owned were just machines. All my vehicles received my touch of modification maintenance repair etc none have ever returned my passion. That said the service and pleasure shared with others sometimes made for fond memories and a personal 'relationship'.

I'm like Mart, in that I am either referring to "the coupe" or "the truck". It used to be "the 40" or "the 37", when I had the sedan, but when the 40 stake truck came to live at my house, I had to get a little more specific.

The only vehicle that I have ever owned that had a name was "The Booger", which my younger daughter named my green '97 Astro van. Since those are universal, I guess it never had a gender assigned to it either.

Bch.....there's only one Mart. Boogers and buggers are vehicles that invariably refuse to start and there we get back to the beginning

Lol, Tiger. That comparison was specified to be about referring to the old vehicles.

Hey Tiger,
Hm, my quess is that because 'she' seems to always leave her panties/garments, etc just accumulating around her interior...and never seems to tidy up after herself

Cars are female and bikes are male because you enter a car and mount a bike.

Yea, I don't refer to my wagon as a she or a he, but I certainly don't refer to it as my woodie!

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!(no pun intended)
