Default Finding Original Color

The standard coupe I'm working on has been painted many times - I am finding red, blue, and the currently applied John Deere yellow. The yellow was hosed on pretty thick and was shot into every nook and cranny of the car. The sheet metal behind the upholstery on the interior of the doors is black so can I conclude that black was the original color? Where else should I look?

Take a bright light and look up behind the gas tank from the cabin area. Tough spot to paint over, and most don't go that far so there is a good chance the original color is still showing.
