I rigged a ceiling mounted bicycle lift to raise the hood by a single person... If you can send me your e-mail and I'll send [email protected]

I did what MCHinson and Bruce recommended. Knowing my coordination is not what it used to be I removed the front bumper first. 2 bolts and thats off. It all went smoothly.

I like that idea, w/my bad right shoulder I can't lift a lot w/my right arm.

BTW, anyone know the weight of a complete hood assembly?

After removal I drap my hoods over a saw horse.

Lifting it off is no where near half of the problem. Putting it back is way more difficult. I think you'd do well to stretch your mind and see if you can find someone to help. A friend, relative, club member, even the kid down the road.

The early Model T's had aluminum hoods which are really easy to lift off. The hood on the early Model T can be lifted off without removing any fasteners. Very handy for working on the engine.

Are aluminum hoods available for Model A's?

Two HF purple lifting straps (6'-5") and a HF 1 1/2 ton engine hoist make it easy. The straps fit perfectly.

A couple of ropes over the garage rafters.Towels in between. Pull each side up slowly. That's how I got mine off 2 years ago.
