Default fitting in side of block

I discovered a weird fitting in the side of my block. It appears to be where an oil pressure gage would have been connected. I think this is where the 1/8 pipe fitting plug should be. I tried to post a pic, but do not know how on this forum.

The circled area is where the pipe plug goes.

There is also a tool that fits here for holding the oil pump in place if you remove the pan.

And, if there were an oil pressure gauge fitted, it would also have used this port as a pressure source.

Hope this helps!
