Maybe the guy that kept the "little black book" was a Fuller Brush Salesman and he crossed out the name once he filled an order...

Ha, with that car yes. Others not so much. That owner actually gave me a pile of parts which turned out to be a complete Model A minus the body.

All I found in my 1945 1/2 ton was mouse droppings and a "Coca Cola" bottle opener.

In the late 40's or early 50's my brother-in-law found a Parker shotgun under the back seat of an old car in my father-in-laws wrecking yard.

As you can see my luck at finding things of value is quite lacking.

When I changed the windshield in my 53 I looked at the date on the old inspection sticker , it was inspected on my wifes birthday. Fellow who inspected it is still alive I see him at the dirt track Races all the time.

I found a 1947 license, unfortunately the owner of the license died a few years before I found the license

I found this old Gates rubber company button in the kick panel of my 27 roadster ..

But the best thing ever, I wish I would have taken a picture, was a 22 magnum old west looking revolver, it was in a holster with a belt, all bailing wired under the seat frame of a 1952 plymouth concord I ended up with in a trade. It was loaded as well The car was from Granby Colorado up in the mountains, probably sort off rough in the 60's-70's. The plates expired in 1972. The gun was rusty on the side that faced the floorboards, other than that it seemed o.k. I sold it to a friend cause I was always broke back then..

Matt.

This is a DD story but what the heck - bought an old wagon to knock around in and started finding change as I cleaned it up. Bought it for $300 cause it smoked. Turns out the guy never changed the oil and the oil holes in the heads were clogged for it to drain into the pan - hence the smoking engine. Once I fixed that, I drove it for over 8 years.

As for the change, they may never have "changed" the oil but every time they went to a fast food joint or whatever they threw whatever change they rec'd into the wagon. I found $78.00 in change in that car ....

I bought a '50 GMC pickup for a 2nd daily driver in 1972. There was a fiberglass handle claw hammer under the front seat. It's still my primary tool for nailing and carpentry work.

Sadly, the death papers may have been necessary to make a title transfer.

During the restoration of my 36 phaeton a ancient little round tin container containing petrified rubber objects dropped out of a secret hiding place in the back seat.Upon completion of the restoration I returned them for the future owners.Phil

Not my car but once rooting through a old Mercedes at a pick A part here in Atlanta I found in the glove box a free parking pass for Disney land and an old set of keys on a key chain. I still have them displayed in a frame in my office. Never found anything of interest in my 50 Merc other then the rockers packed solid with dirt and mud. Randy

We have been in the Ford business since 1909. In the 50s when repairing a '50 Ford our body man found a 3/4 full whiskey bottle in the left rear quarter panel under the driver's rear window that must have been stuck in there at assembly so the assembler wouldn't get caught drinking on the job by a supervisor, another was a bottle with a note in it above the glove box on a '52 Ford that said, I bet you had an awful time finding this rattle. 4dsrus

Some interesting stories here. I like Mart's black book find, how many miles has that traveled? In addition to the truck and it's contents I am still finding spares for my truck that were rat holed away by my Father in-law. A trans, generators, carbs, starters, you name it. All gets cleaned up and packed away for down the road. Good stuff...

We had a wash boy that clean the cars at our use car lot. He found a large roll of money under the front seat mostly 100 dollar bills. He search and found the owner to return it and the fellow did not even say thanks to him. We gave Richard a raise in pay and bought him a dinner to say thanks.
