Zenith carb overfloating at Choke GAV - why?
Hello, hope you have an idea. My Zenith Carb is leaking at the Choke-GAV entry (see picture). The float level is set to 5/8 Inch from the bottom. All gaskets are new. But when the carb is in the car or on my test-jig there is fuel in this "tube". After a while it is leaking down to the earth.
Have you an idea how to stop this? Set the float level lower? Thanks a lot for help and hope you understand my "english" Michael

Re: Zenith carb overfloating at Choke GAV - why?
The threads in the casting for the GAV assembly and the GAV itself are a pipe thread designed to seal off a leak. However I have encountered castings where someone had ran a regular tap of the same size through it and destroyed the sealing capability of the threads.
I also make it a practice to coat the threads with a pipe sealer. Avoid using Mylar tape as pieces of it may migrate to the cap jet. The sealer I use is called Gasoila E-seal. I found it on-line, comes in a one pint can and is green in color. Tom Endy |

Re: Zenith carb overfloating at Choke GAV - why?
The thread is okay and not destroyed. Around the casting and the GAV Assembly is everything okay. The fuel is coming from the float bowl through the small hole in the bottom of the bowl to the GAV Needle and then up in the tube. If i screw in the Needle complete there is no leaking. But then the car dont runs.

Hi everybody,
changed the float Valve and set the float level a little bit down. Now everything is fine. Have done a road trip 10 Miles / 16 km this afternoon. Thanks for the help
