Default 1939 Ford, add tubular shocks?

I have a very nice driver, not a show car. I'm thinking about adding tubular shocks to improve the ride and handling. Is it OK to leave the original shocks in place? Is there a kit available and if so, where do I get it. Or would I be better off to get the originals rebuilt?

I'd get in touch with Bill Wzorek (here on the FordBarn) He will give you some shocking information.
