ventura,
It sounds as if you have '35 generator. Cutouts were used up thru , for
the most part '39 standards....'39 delux and some '39 standards ushered in the 2 brush generator with a firewall mounted voltage regulator.
As long as we are "talking" I have 2 show quality fan mounted generators
with diode equipped cutouts..........if you are interested PM me.

The old 3 brush generator I think is only rated 15 amps and the third brush position sets the current output. The 2 brush unit as used on a 40 Ford is a better unit, is self regulating, and I think is rated up to 30 amps. You must have the correct pulley on it to mount the fan. It uses a voltage regulator mounted on the firewall.

If you are looking for a used original one, or the later one that fits, you may want to call Ray Helgers in RI 401 635 4849. Wed-Sat. 8-3 or something like that. Ray said he was going to Fitchburg on Sunday, so if you are going, you could talk to him in person.

I don't think I could do the rebuilding. The wires coming out are all bare and badly couroded.
