Default Andre Hartford style friction disk shock absorbers for an A?

Anyone using these? Are they suitable for an A?

They (or a variety of such) have been used successfully for many years by many users. A lot of race cars used them. they are a 50/50 type absorber. I'm not sure how those shown would mount to the car.

Do you think they work better than the original shocks on a Model A?

I use them on my speedster but recommend staying with the hydraulic units for a heavier car. I'm going to install '34 shocks on my tudor, they are thicker but bolt right to the frame. Won't work with mechanical brakes as there is an interference fit.

I run Ansen friction shocks on my speedster and roadster. The friction shocks are 50/50 and are better than no shocks at all. I know that the recently made 60/40 hydraulic shocks are better but TOO pricey for me. I put a set of the other repro hydraulic shocks on the coupe and I like the friction shocks better.

Ck out Speedway Motors or possibly Ford Parts Obsolete in CA. S/pdway is in NE They offer friction shocks and links I believe. I doubt anything avail is going to "bolt" on.

The Speedway shocks have the lowest price. The shocks pictured in post number 2 appear to be two styles that Speedway handles. The bottom shock pictured is like the Ansen friction shocks that I use on the front. I don't think that the speedway shocks will fit the rear without modification. The rear Ansen shocks that I use on my roadster have a longer arm with an offset. I had to fabricate a spacer for the rear shock mounting location so as to clear the rear wheel inner panel.
