Default Window regulator roller repair

Working on a friends 58 Edsel convertible with power windows and the right rear dropped down, after some investigation the stud on the regulator where the roller attaches broke. New rollers are available but I was hoping to find a repair kit for that stud but I have not found any and since it has power windows that regulator might be hard to find and not looking forward to replacing it. Anybody ever have this problem and what did you do but I think its time for some yankee enginuity with a bolt and nut.

You might call a local glass shop and see if they know of anything to repair it.

There's a couple other Edsel owners on here who might be able to help. They may notice this thread sooner if you can go back and edit the title to include the word - Edsel.

Have you looked in the bottom of the door with a good bright light,
and maybe use one of those long skinny mechanics magnets to snag
the broken stud, if it is lodged in the lower front or rear of the door.

You should be able to weld the stud back into the regulator arm.
Also, many FoMoCo cars and pickups of that era used the same
little plastic rollers, so if you can find an old regulator and remove
a stud and weld it in your regulator.

Lanny is probably right because there is no place for it go when it broke except for the bottom of the door.

If you can't find, more than likely that the stud was the same throughout the Ford Line. Do you have the regulator out? In the 50's Fords that I have worked with there usually are two studs so you should have one to go by for a sample.

If you have a sample, a machine shop might be able to make a new one.

Jeff, does that Edsel regulator have the removable nylon roller on the stud ?
Or is it the kind in the video, with the nylon roller cast onto the stud ?

I thought '58s had the removable nylon roller...

Have used a bolt modified into a stud for repairs in the past on similar problems.

The reason I posted that video is to show there are aftermarket repair kits available.

Of course you would have to source the correct kit for your particular application.

There were two series of the 1958 EDSEL, one based on the FORD platform and the other MERCURY.
