what do these 17" long support arms fit"

last couple of days as we sat my trunk lid on, I opened a box of my Drake parts: new support arms 91A-7744200-1 that I had purchased in 2003 brand new for my 40 coupe(still in plastic bubbles) won't fit.
They have correct numbers, but not correct parts.

Total length eye to eye is 17 inches not compressed.
The original eye to eye is 21 inches not compressed.

anybody know what they fit?

I believe these are the 39/40 Ford coupe trunk supports.

do some of the 39-40 coupes have trunk lid supports of 17 inch lengths and others have 21 inch lengths?

For '39 - '40 coupes it's 17 inches hole to hole.

Thank you for the help. My has a set of 21" arms and I thot my car was unmolested but it was around 45 years 'fore I got it . I guess someone changed it; I wonder what the 21" arms were for?

I appreciate you clarifying what is supposed to be on it.
