Default '36 horn/headlight/taillight/parking light sw.

On my up and coming '50's nostalgic hotrod '36, I am using the stock banjo steering wheel on a '39 box. I want to use the stock horn and light switch. So, I've taken everything apart and cleaned it and getting ready to reassemble. Are there any tips or tricks to make sure it all works OK? For instance, is di-electric grease a good idea on the contacts?

You do not need any lube on the contacts. Make sure the horn rod is straight, the bore for the rod clean, the small bushing installed on the rod before assembly. The center spring loaded contact on the contact plate should move freely and a very small dab of light lube here is OK. The wire through the horn rod to the horn button should be isolated from ground unless the horn button is pushed. If the horn button is not working correctly take it apart before assembly. The bottom electrical contact on the horn rod should be clean and not worn down, if worn fill with rosin core solder, to a slight dome.
