Default trunk lid lock adjustment 36

The trunk lid on my 36 coupe will lock, but bangs up and down-there's 1/4 inch play. The rubber weatherseal on top and bottom are new. I have removed the bottom catch, 2 bolts, but there's no way I see to slide it down to pull the play out. The lid sits level and flush , it just bounces up when I hit a bump. How do you adjust the slack out?

Remove handle and run a small weld on the swing blade that attaches to striker might work. Dp

If I recall correctly, the upper hinges can be adjusted sideways to even out side gaps. I believe they can also be adjusted to move the lid back and forth which might reduce the latch play.

take your flashlight and some assorted spacers, go in the trunk, close the lid and then stick spacers between the latch and the striker plate. When you find the right spacer, get out of the trunk and tack weld it to the bottom of the striker. Test fit and, if correct, finish the weld.
