Anyone know the Woodruff key number or the size of the water pump shaft key?

Thank you Bob.

I also found Number 3 but wasn't sure it was the right one. Your description is very thorough.

Where did you find it? I looked in the Service Bulletins and Les Andrews book.

Probably just missed it.

#404 is the American Standard identification for that size key.

#3 is the identification given by Standard Steel Specialty Co. who manufactures woodruff keys.

Am I right is assuming the key should be a tight fit both horizontally and vertically?

If you will look at the chart in the link, you will see that the tolerance of the width is 0.125 to 0.126. That would tell you that it is going to be a tight fit. The key can only go in depth (vertically) until the radius of the key hits the radius of the
keyway. Therefore, cut the keyway per standard specifications.

Sorry. Just looks at your Chart. Number 404 and Number 3 are the same. Just different Agency designations.

Ya learn every day..
