Default Reminder: You Have Water in Cooling..Get Antifreeze

I'm still kind of a new Model A guy (only 8 years) but I know many of us run water in the summer...well boys it's getting time to not break that block...drain the water...anti-freeze is the solution we should be seeking!

Me too, I don't trust myself not to forget some year and have to pay the price for being stupid!

When we get a new calendar, I always mark October 20 "Drain the Cars!". Ed

Why would you run water in the summer, and change to anti-freeze in the winter?

Do some feel there is an advantage to running water?

Maybe because it's cheaper?

Water cools 20-30* cooler than antifreeze, some have marginal cooling radiator’s and hence water for coolant ( please use anti rust in the water)

Also if you run water and drain the cooling system for the winter, please open and dry the system , or it will stay damp and rust. Something I learn from steam boiler maintenance, open it up and let it air out and dry!
