1929 Ford Model A pickup pop out ignition switch
I have tried to clean the ignition switch on my Ford pickup and it is still so stiff to turn. I need to use a plier to work the key back and forth. Yes, I have removed the key assembly from the truck dash. What I need to know is how to disassemble the keying mechanism itself to get to the parts that are causing the friction in turning the key. I've tried many things to clean it and then lubricate it but so far nothing helps enough. I have the "red" manual and know how to take the mechanism out of the dash, etc. but the part not described is how to get even more in to the keying mechanism itself to free up the rotation of the key. I don't see much in the way of pins, etc. on the housing so I'm just not sure what my next step should be. Thanks!!

Re: 1929 Ford Model A pickup pop out ignition switch
A word of caution: the cylinder is made of pot metal and expands with age, that's probably why it is stiff, if you force it , it might just break. Not much you can do about it except replace it. Dick Crabtree is the solution.
