Default Welding question about transmission tower shift forks

A welder asked about the red circled areas. Are they supposed to be flat, or have an indentation on them?

Guten Morgen Barnwood,

I welded that on too. My advice: Don't fit too tight! I ground the groove to an accuracy of 1/10mm. This is too tight! It caused the shift fork to bind when the transmission was hot.

Factory specs called for about 0.006" -or about 0.15 MM.
