Default '55 Ford Dash Oil Light (Idiot Light)

I got the wild hair a while back to get all my stock gauges/indicators in my '55 Ford Ranchwagon dash working. Got the fuel, temp and even the electric clock all working on 12v (but I still have my trusty wind up, just in case).

I finally got the old bod under the dash to look at the OIL light (getting out again was a whole different story) hoping to find just a burned out bulb only to find that the light socket the was installed only has a single wire. It needs the double wire socket like the GEN Light.

I looked in all the catalogs and can't find one. Anyone know where I can get one of these bad dogs? Or have a spare your willing to sell?

Thanks

I think Mike (46Yblock) has an old country sedan he's parting out. Maybe he has the sockets you need.

Thanks Mike. Let me know what you want for them and for shipping and all. Bet those Omega gauges look fantastic in the '56 dash. I'll send you a PM with my address.

A guy on YBF suggested I check if it had been swapped with one on the dash lights. So I checked and there it was just hanging there, no bulb.

Anyway everyone, thanks for your help. Now to figure where the wire is going because it still doesn't work. But that is going to have to wait, two times under the dash in one day is one time over my limit...

One of the wires to the light should read battery voltage when the key is in the on position, and the other wire should run to the oil pressure sender switch. The sender makes a connection to ground when there is no oil pressure, and turns on the light. When there is oil pressure, the sender opens the ground side and turns the light off.

Master Cylinder, glad you are on the road to success. I want to keep the speedo and dash cluster complete though. It is all there and good, with a working speedo no less! Plexiglass dome is nice too.
