Re: Inferior parts quality warning
Tires, toothpaste, dog/cat food, contact lens solution, baby formula.
We may complain about an intrusive FDA and CPSC, but I'll pay extra to NOT get killer products from China. Now if they get hooked on Ed Deming and statistical quality control like Japan did in the '50's and '60's, we are in for an economic fight! I had the same problem with soft steel from China, luckily it was on a bike and not a '69 Stang. Any pictures?? |

Re: Inferior parts quality warning
The problem really isn't China, or Mexico,or Antarctica-it is us. If we ALL said "I won't buy that cheap crap where ever it is made", then the suppliers would tell their Chinese factories to make it better. The Chinese factories are new and certainly have the equipment and technology to build to whatever quality level is desired. But, "we" all now desire Walmart pricing. Those of us who want a quality product and are willing to pay for it are just not a viable market share.
My dad, who was not a mechanic, always told me to buy the very best you could afford. Sometimes if you can't afford it. You'll rarely be disappointed with the best. At least your rebuilder made good on their work. That's not so common anymore, either. |
