Default Model A Luggage Trunk?

Good morning all. I found this recently and was looking for a little info on the year and value of it. The tag on the right bottom side says it was made in San Francisco by W.R. Malm. Any info would be appreciated.

Curious as to the dimensions of the trunk?

It's 42"long, 18" tall and 12" front to back. I've looked for a long time with Google but only found one that was similar, nothing identical.

Well for a start...I would try to contact the Sutro Library (I think that is the name of it) in the San Francisco area and do a search in their old phone books for this company (You know the address) to try to determine a time frame as to when they were in business. They may even have a business catalog on file! Or even the San Francisco Historical Society!

See if some of the family of Malm's are still in the area, if so contact them and you might be surprised as to what they may have if related to this person and the company itself...or not!

Here is a led:

Also try "W. R Malm and Company trunks"...see what you come up with.

Have you gone to Google Maps to see where the building was located? If in fact it is still there!

This company may have moved to 2443 Filmore St. at some time in their existance.

Ya I know...that is a lot of work but just may be fruitful!

Pluck

Yelp reports Malm Luggage (presumably the successor to W. R. Malm) in S. F. is closed. There is a review from about 12 years ago, so they still must have been in business at least that recently.

There's a Malm trunk on eBay that doesn't look as nice as yours. Buy it now is $865. Course like my daddy used to say, "askin' ain't gittin'!"
