Default 32 Ford Cowl Lacing Rivets

Finding NOS A&L replacement lacing was a years long slog (OCD). Found enough for two more cars a few years ago. Finding correct lacing rivets is also a steep uphill climb(OCD Squared). So I went back to my collection of original takeoffs to see if I could retrieve some rivets. Worked out better than expected and get to reuse the star-shaped folds on the end of the each rivet (OCD Nth degree). Now if only I could find a 3W rear shade and tassel.

Tom,

There is a tool that creates the star-shaped folds on tubular rivets, but good for you for re-using the original rivets.

Dave,

I was able to salvage enough rivets for one car, not enough for the second. I have the correct rivets for the second car but not the tool to set them. Due you have info where I could get the tool you mentioned. Thanks,

Don't know why pictures did not upload in the first message. They can be found at the bottom of the "32 Ford Cowl Lacing" thread.

Tom,
Mine came from Sears decades ago, so no luck there. Big Flats Rivet in PA appears to have gone out of business as well.

A Google search turns up Hanson Rivet & Supply (among others, no doubt) who offer a hand rivet tool that has star clincher options.
