Odd rear main seal housing
This was on the back of the industrial engine after I pulled the clutch and flywheel off.
I have not seen one of these before this. Can anyone share their knowledge on these? I’m including a picture of the pan profile as well. |

Ralph, I am pretty sure I have one or more of those floating around, I know I have seen them before, but I can't help as to what they came off of. we got a bunch of loose stuff when we bought a large group of parts years ago.

Hey Jim, how are you?
I’ve got 15 or so flatheads, and this is the only one like this. Thought it was strange. |

Re: Odd rear main seal housing
Thanks Mac!
So being pot metal, doesn’t Make it one of the more desirable set ups? I would guess if you had to have a rear sump pan, then you might want it, but I’ve seen rear sump pans on “normal”(car) rear main setups. |
