Default Vintage Sentry Auto Alarm

After I got home from the hospital yesterday a friend dropped this by and asked me if I had ever seen one of these. Since I have never seen one I thought I would post it here and see if anyone has ever used one and how well it worked. besides i need something to occupy my mind while my body heals. Rod

JC Whitney used to sell those. If you shake the car enough it well make the gong touch the side and connect the horn or whatever alarm it's connected to. The ones I've seen have a sensitivity screw to move the weight closer to the side for greater sensitivity.

After spending some time looking this over.

It has 10 year gaurantee, but it is cased in cardboard.

Also with its design I would think in a wind storm it would go off nearly continuiosly and run your battery dead if not burn up your horn. 😆 Rod

In believe the sensitivity adj is on the top. So the thief steals your car and the horn blows while it's being driven away lol

Thanks Tom. I did not know who they were sold by. Now the cardboard case makes more sense. I have messes with the adjustment and it all makes electrical and mechanical sense and is very simple and likely easy to defeat. Neat display item, but not very effective beyond the initial supprise and nearly useless after that IMHO. Rod

At which time the joke is on you. Any way off to the shop to take pics of the Nash Twin Six distributor he also put on my bench. Rod

I relayed the info to my friend. He is curious as to what it might be worth in its unused condition. Anyone have a clue? I can see where it would not be real effective, but a neat display item. Thanks Rod
