Drain the oil out and stick your finger up in the drain hole and see what it feels like, what you can get out. You posted that you have already been running detergent oil, so a little late to worry about that, LOL. Zinc is not an issue with a flathead, will not hurt anything, but there is not enough valve spring pressure to be an issue. I would run normal detergent modern oil and change it fairly frequently. If you suspect a lot of slug build up, clean it out by takeing off the intake and and pan, not be big a job.
