Default Dyno

Today I learned something that I probably would have never thought of.
Some dyno readings are much higher than others because some run on metric voltage.

LOL! Take the readings X .737 to get REAL HP!

Good one Pete . . . that metric voltage, combined with the metric rings, metric air and metric fuel, should make the average metric-boosted street flathead easily make over 300 MHP!

So glad to hear that, I’m going out today to get me a new metric IQ score, been wanting to get it somewhere above 35. Your post made my day, thanks, Pete.

But shouldn't that be 482 Kilometers per mile?

Man I remember the 25 cycle lighting in the railroad tower. The flicker bulbs would give you a headache.

I think the barometric pressure needs to be converted to metric also. And the RPM to furlongs per fortnight.

Single phase. Usually somewhere betweeb 10K and 15K volts depending on which railroad it is. Some railroads used DC anywhere from 600 to 3K.

I saw a dyno set-up for sale today for $500. on Eugene Oregon Craigslist. You will need to figure out if it runs on other than regular power.

Is that 3 stone or 5 hands high? or a foot or mile? Sounds like some fancy stupid science crap to me. Metrics.

DC current is safe.

DC Current will knock your Richard in the dirt! I dealt with 432v DC every day during my working years. Nasty stuff if you get foolish and let it get ya! DD

FWIW: I, for one, . . . do NOT like having my Richard knocked into the dirt! Just making that clear for all.

I was attempting NOT to appear "too uncouth" in this friendly, family setting. Hence, the following examples:

William...=BILL

Robert....=BOB

James.....=JIM

Charles....=CHUCK

Richard....=DICK

So..."DC Current will knock your BOB (or BILL, or JIM, or CHUCK, or DICK) in the dirt!"

Like Dale above, I don't like having any of my favorite names "knocked in the dirt" either!

For "Tinker", whom this response was originally addressed to, there is an old US Navy or electrical lore story that has been passed-around for many years. A Navy electrical tech on a submarine had put a new 9V battery (DC) in his volt/ohm meter. I guess he had intended to check-out his internal BODY resistance on the OHMS scale as measured from one hand to the other, which we all have done by holding one meter-probe tightly between thumb & finger on each hand. That resistance is then measured on the dial of an analog meter with a very small movement, depending on how tightly you squeeze the probes. THIS guy's probes were the POINTY ones with a very sharp point on each. Instead of squeezing his two probes, he managed to jamb his two thumbs down onto the pointy probes such that they penetrated the skin, and made contact with the resultant blood on each thumb. It killed the guy as dead as having his "BOB knocked in the dirt". NOW, with measuring his resistance THROUGH his heart (BLOOD), DC current produced by the 9V battery in the meter taxed what his heart could stand going through it. It has arguably been said that as little as 10 mA THROUGH the heart CAN be enough to kill a person. Your mileage may vary! DD

Apparently its the milli amps that kills ya. In this case, it makes no difference if you're metrically or imperially inclined. Dead is still dead!

the dyno results will not be accurate if not using metric exhaust pipes, liters of air and imperial gals of fuel but metric plug wires will help!
