Re: Trailering Model A Cabriolet
Cover it with heat-shrink poly. They use it to deliver new boats all the time.
I would put a blanket over the car first for cushioning against damage, then wrap it and tape all the joints with poly tape, even around the bottom. Better yet, put the poly on the trailer bed first, roll the car on, then pull the edges of the poly up and tape on a cover sheet over the top. Shrink with an electric heat gun until tight. You can get the poly sheet in rolls from www.mcmaster.com in many sizes. Like 7mil x 12' x 150' roll that will cover about 75 cars for $235 plus shipping. That is about $3 per car. You can sell off the extra to other car guys and make a bundle? I have no connection to McMaster-Carr. Here is a link to the right page in their catalog. https://www.mcmaster.com/browse-pack...shrink-film-6/ |

Re: Trailering Model A Cabriolet
I have towed my 1930 Cabriolet from Florida to Texas several times with no issues.
I would say it depends on the condition of your top. |

Re: Trailering Model A Cabriolet
So my solution was to put a blanket over the top and then I wrapped it up tight with shrink wrap. I am happy to say it made the 900 some odd miles without any problems what so every. I am now the proud new owner of a 1930 Model A Cabriolet and loving it. Now, I just need lots of practice downshifting from 3rd to 2nd without all the grinding.

Free advice is worth it.
Glad you beat the odds. My experience was not as fortunate. |

Re: Trailering Model A Cabriolet
How do I upload a profile picture and where does everyone download pictures to for uploading? I have never needed a URL address to post pictures.
