what other old cars are in your garage?

I was wondering what other car interest the typical model A'r may have? Post interesting pitchers if you have any.
I hope this hasn't been done before, I couldn't find anything.
As for me, the model a was my 3rd of four cars.
I have had other old cars in the past, but sold for collage or just to pay bills or one reason or another. But now I have four and no more to be sold, I hope.

Sometimes luck has a lot to do with it. I've been lucky enough to find some very cheap cars, but also missed out on some very good deals because I didn't have the money.

Probably one of my best deals was in 1974 when I bought a very nice 1964 Corvair convertible for only $10 because the guy heard Ralph Nader say they were dangerous. Of course Ralph didn't have a clue and never drove or even rode in a Corvair.

The 61-63s were not great handlers...especially with the front tires over inflated by owners, gas stations, and even Chevy dealers. 15F/26R just didn't seem right to most people. I have owned 2 1962's. Both fun cars (but I inflated the tires correctly and didn't auto cross them ). My latest was a 30,000 mile original. I painted it due to "garage rash", but it was original otherwise.

I have had 281 vehicles so far, and 100 of them have been motorcycles. I used to have a list of them on my web site, but recently erased everything and built a new site. Now I am down to my girlfriend's early 28 roadster pickup, the tudor I bought in 1975, a 74 MGBGT with a camero V6, a 79 MGB roadster with a supercharged engine, and an all original 82 Suzuki 650. Modern stuff includes a 97 Ranger, 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, 2010 Honda Fit, and a 2006 Mazda Miata.

Yeah I'm not rich either. Of the three cars I posted, one is the Model T given to me by my father who got it from his father who actually USED the car in his painting business. Of course I did pour about $9K into the restoration....over time, back when I was single and making the "big bucks." The others came with time, got good deals and fixed them up as I went. Yeah you do need some level of money to devote to these cars but believe me I am not as rich as people think when they see my car collection. Now my friend with the 1929 Lincoln Sedan previously owned by Clara Ford, and his Lincoln Roadster....now there's some bucks!!

Sorry Dick, but I have to disagree with you about the Corvair handling. I own about 16 Corvairs, all between 1962 and 1965, and never had a handling problem with any of them. My main driver in the 60's was the first one I bought, a 1962 Corvair Spyder. I could do a 4 wheel drift on the cloverleaf and never had a hint of loss of control. It was a great car until some jerk ran into me and totaled it.

Over the years I have learned you shouldn't buy more cars than you can keep inside a garage and take care of the maintenance. Thieves, vandals, and nature aren't kind to them.

We did not chop it, it was an old drag car and parts when we got it. It was worth buying it just being able to take him for a ride again , he was 86 when i bought it back he will be 90 in April. The barn queen is a Late 1950 8N with all of the period correct accoutrements including two auxiliary transmissions (Howard Rotovator and Sherman Hi-Lo) and most of the original implements such as a Dearborn 2 bottom plow, Dearborn disk plow, Dearborn cordwood saw, Dearborn disk harrow and a Danuser grading blade. Restoring it was a blast!

I also have a Early 1948 and a 1963 Ford 4000 Row Crop awaiting restoration once I finish the inside of my shop.

Look back at #40 and #125. Corvairs and Studebakers have always been my favorites, and Dick sure owned two of the cleanest, and best ones I've ever seen. Corvairs had the same full size bucket seats as used in the Impala, and they are a very comfortable car to ride in, but the rear seat is mostly for little kids.

When I was looking to buy my first antique car I looked at some beautiful Model A's for $200 to $800, but thought they were too common, and I wanted something more rare. So in 1974 I wound up buying a restored 1929 Chevy Coach for $2000. Drained my life savings for one car, but it was such a thrill to finally own an antique car. I know I have more projects than I can finish, and I wanted another Studebaker already done and ready to drive. I got lucky 3 years ago when I found this 1950 Champion just 5 miles away on Craigslist. My dad bought a new 1950 Champion, and that's the first car I can remember riding in.

What finally got me into buying a Model A was when I was at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds about 1990 and heard the most beautiful sound of a car chugging through the race track tunnel and up the incline. I turned around to see what was making such a beautiful sound, and found it was a Model A. That was it, I had to have one.

Well I can't afford the kind of cars I'd like to own, so after retiring as a autobody repairman and painter I decided to build my own. I see one I like in a photo, I scale it out from the photo and build it. Mine are running, driving examples. The 1903 Curved Dash Olds is fun to drive. The 1897 Olds Trap is the only running copy in existance, my 1910 REO truck is powered by a 3 cylinder diesel, not original but fun. I have just purchased a Ford Ranger pickup, I'm using the chassis for a 1930 Miller Indy Ford racer replica. Not real you say? lol real enough for me.

In the 70's I knew of a Duesenberg for $10,000 and at the time I thought that was way too much.

A lot of Model A owners look like they keep some more 'modern' iron in the fleet for when you need to burn off some aggression

My family has said 'What do we do with your stuff after you are dead?' I say 'I don't care. Set it out in the yard, sell it at auction, get what you can I just don't care anymore! I'm having fun with it while I'm still around you can't put a price on that.'

Hi Everyone,

New to being registered to Ford Barn, but have used it a lot in the past for my Colorado barn find 1940 Sedan Delivery. That moved on to someone in Ohio (I’m in the western Chicago suburbs) and replaced it with a running 1939 Pontiac Quality 6.

Current Model A project is a 1931 Victoria barn find - has been in pieces (literally) for 20 years. While I’m into traditional hot rods (my Pontiac is also one), I don’t “fit” any one type of the car hobby. Stock, foreign, exotic, modified, they are all cool!

Definitely with my Model A, I have even a higher respect for those who go full on stock restoration. I’m just trying to save another one.

Been into cars before I could drive, thanks to dad.

First photo is the 40 Sedan Delivery and when I got the Pontiac, second photo is current on the Pontiac.

Ronn, This little car is the 1899 Stanley Bros. design. It is the seventh steamer I've owned and my favorite, the rest were Stanley's too, 1903 -1919.

Woofa, I guess you are referring to the number plate? It is a copy of the decayed original leather using the original brass numbers. It may be registered and insured for limited use only
