SFA means San Francisco Assembled, in a 5 story plant at 21st & Harrison where Model T's were made for many years. '31 cars were assembled at Richmond, across the bay in a totally new plant.
My '30 coupe was a SFA car. It's a little hard to pull up history on that plant.

I hope folks will continue to submit their data to Dave. In my opinion BODY TYPE is important! It's been my theory in recent years that different body types were built at different branches and cross shipped with other neighboring branches to complete the product line in each branch. Of course that would mean the body number data would not tell for sure where the vehicle was produced, just the body.

curious ... my early 28 open pickup is stamped SFA52 ... perhaps this is not a serialized order of assembly number as i assumed but rather represents something else??? just sent info to Mr. Sturges as requested.
