Had those folks been able to keep separated like we are trying today, the death rate would have been much lower. There's no way society would have been able to do it. I had several ancestors and multiple cousins who perished. Let's hope these things don't become more common in the future.

have you guys ever noticed in street scene photos of the '20s and '30s that sanitary conditions on streets, gutters, sidewalks etc. were often noticeably messier than today? I suspect that horses were still in limited commercial use at least in the '20s but gone by the '30s.....
