fe motors

I'm looking at a 1960 ford thunderbird the motor is stuck don't know how bad yet but will any fe motor fit it

I remember back a long time ago I tried to put a 352 into a 1974 ford truck and the motor mount would not fit

been along time I bee around one I thought the newer one had more spots for the motor mounts

The FE motor mount L and R block bosses changed from 3 to 4 in '65, so late blocks will fit earlier pre-'65 mounts, while early '58-'64 blocks require some mount mods to fit late motor mounts.

ok thanks I thought that but wanted to make sure

so what's is it between the gold paint and blue paint on the engine

corporate blue came out in 1966. Before that most were black, some gold and some red.

I put a 332 into a 69 highboy once. I just made some plates from 1/2 stock, drilled the holes for the mounts and for the block. I did have to slot the motor mount holes in the towers a little to get the mount studs through. The engine will set a bit higher but it never seemed to be a problem

In the sixties blue valve covers denoted 352 2bbl, yellow, 352 4V, gold Thunderbird valve covers 390 4 V.

A correction to my earlier post. The '58-'64 blocks had 2 motor mount bosses on each side, not 3.
The later blocks have 4, with the added bosses positioned forward and wider apart than the original bosses.
