Default Type of fastener for for Radiator Pan

What type of fastener is used for the Radiator Splash Shield where it bolts to the front of the fender on a '30 Town Sedan?

Mine has hex head bolts and it doesn't look correct. I'm thinking it should be an oval head or carriage bolt with a smooth head.

If you don't have a point car and want that area to look nice, use round head, slotted stainless steel . Polished. I don't think washers were used.
StainlessTown has an aweasome inventory and their prices are very low.

Do they have slotted? I looked and couldn't find them on their website.

Go to "screws" and page up and down to find them. It's been a while since I ordered from them. If you can't find them, send them an email.

Another option is Ace Hardware. Used to work at one. They have slide out trays that contain a lot of stainless screws. Ask for the location of the slotted ones.

Snyders have them, A-115-BMB, it wouldn't be worth ordering them unless you need other parts.

I like that idea. I was looking thru my spare screws and found some stainless oval head screws for the dash rail. http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/dashboard-2455 I'm going to use them until I can get something else. They look WAY better than the hex heads.

Brian, I saw those. I think those are the ones that go on the sides of the Radiator Splash Shield and screw into the bumper bracket bolts.

McMaster Carr is where I get all of my slotted screws. They have stainless and coated steel. Delivery is fast and items are always in stock. Just search web for McMaster carr.

I also buy from McMaster-Carr and everything you say is true. The bits they sell for Dremels are outstanding.

The problem i have with buying screws from them is you have to buy 50-100 at a time when I only need 2-4...

check with tractor supply, they have a good selection of nuts and bolts and they are cheap

and are sold by the pound. They also have grade 8 and pretty sure I saw some stainless.

I was looking for some nuts and bolts (Grade didn't matter) and got a big hand full for

less than 6 or 8 of the same quality at ACE.

yup Big R sells by the pound too - I bought about a dozen 5/16 bolts, a handful of washers, dozen nuts, and a handful of lockwashers for $2.62...Woulda been over $10 at ace...

Most of the Model A Parts suppliers carry specific packages of screws , washers , nuts Ect. that are very close in length , type of head and nuts that are close to the originals. These are for many applications . Snyders , Brattons , A&L , Berts , and most others carry them. Saves a lot of time and aggravation.

OK Not sure where you are with these elusive bolts, take a look at Brattons, 21260 and 21270, I believe they go thru the front fender, splash apron, and frame with a nuts and washers.
