Default Different take on dual carbs

I saw this on epay, a little different configuration on a dual carb setup.

This manifold is an altered original. Several years ago there was a fad of running two Zenith updraft carburetors, and this is the manifold for that purpose.

I'm running a set up like that and it is great!

If turned over, it's a down draft. Once I ran 2 old Jeep carbs & a modified Jeep distributor. A Guy GAVE me a whole crate of Jeep parts.

With this side by side setup it is easy to make a progressive linkage which works better with a wide throttle opening at low RPM.

I was at an Antique and Classic car show in June where they refused to allow entry to a Model A with 2 carburetor because the organizers declared it to be a " hot rod " much to the approval of most in attendance including myself. Wayne

Attached is a picture of mine. I have not yet tried it out. Has anyone else tried one like this?

Ronnie, mine is similar with two zeniths and a progressive linkage. It idles and runs on one carb only until 1/2 throttle, then both carbs operate and both are wide open at the same time. I have over 10,000 miles on it and it operates very well.

Lindy,

Please post a photo of the progressive linkage. I have the same manifold and have been noodling over the progressive part trying to come up with a fool-proof design. 10k miles...sounds like you have it figured out.

Thank you.

I was also thinking about that linkage, and the only way that comes to mind is to make the secondary rod slide through a hole and then have a stop on the rod to engage the secondary throttle arm, which would have to be half the length to open fully with the final half travel of the first throttle lever. I know a picture would make my explanation much easier to understand.

I just thought of another way to accomplish the same thing by using the same throttle levers on both carbs, and then using a spring on the first carb lever to allow more travel.
