Overdrive Drain Plug Location???
Searched the forum and online for the location of the drain plug for the
BW overdrive. Fill plug is there. Just below the fill plug there is what appears to be a hex head pipe plug - is the drain plug? . Came across this article while searching around on the interweb: https://www.fordification.com/tech/overdrive.htm

Re: Overdrive Drain Plug Location???
On the stock Warner overdrives I have read and been told to just fill and drain through the normal transmission plugs. Having rebuilt many of these over the years I know with out a doubt the main case and overdrive case do share the same oil and it actually is circulated from one to the other continually while the car is in motion . Why Warner put those plugs in the OD housing I can only guess, but if you fill to the higher OD fill plug level you will have oil weeping out your input shaft in a ford and running out in the GM and Mopar application's. Yes, they all used the same warner overdrives with only outer case differences.
Been there done that, Tim |

Re: Overdrive Drain Plug Location???
It’s definitely a hex plug. If you decide to remove it, be sure to use the correct size Allen wrench…..we use the type that is a straight shot with a 3/8” drive. The socket is often filled with grease and dirt so you should pick that out before you attempt to insert the Allen wrench.

Where did you find that cutaway drawing? I'd like to purchase one.
