Default 1965 mustang door latch

Hello folks, once again I find I'm needing some help. I have a 65 mustang coupe that I can't get the drivers door to stay shut. I have moved the striker out didn't help I have lubed it didn't help and I don't know what else to do. The funny thing about this crazy lock is it seems to work fine in warm weather. I can also push and hold the door shut and push the door lock knob and it will stay shut. Do I need to replace the lock mechanism or what? Also, is changing the door latch mechanism a very hard job on this car? Please help I want to drive it so bad.

sounds like the lock assembly is shot changing isn't a big job just seeing the clips that hold the rods are a pain to see. a small screwdriver or pick work good to slide under tabs to remove them also remove the rear track for the window for more room. there is a spring that breaks and causes your problem. falcons use the same lock assembly
