Default Carburetor Adjustment for 33 Ford

Does anybody know of a good "how to" video regarding adjusting a single barrel carburetor, V8 engine for 1933 Ford? Thanks much.

IF the Detroit Lubricator is set up/rebuilt correctly there should only be two adjustments...ONE the metering rod via the top of the carburetor and TWO the idle adjustment screw once you adjust the metering rod!! The service manual is 7 pages (or 3-1/2 front & Back).

I hope I attached the two files correctly; these are two pictures of the carburetor, one from left and one from right. Does it look like correct carburetor? I am trying to figure out what the two screws do at the base. I assume one is for fuel and one for air, correct. But which ones?

I run a Detroit Lubricator in my stock '33. They work differently from later carburetors. I found a manual on line to help. try this link below. it might get you going.

Looks very much like a Holley 94 style???? look to see if it is embossed with a "H, F
, 94 or other numbers and letters. There appears to be an open vacuum port?? Photos with the air cleaner on make it difficult to see much of the Carb. Is it a 2 barrel carb it appears to be since the intake manifold looks much like 1935 or 36 or other 2 barrel intake.
The two brass screws are the idle mixture adjustment. Adjust each at a warm idle for the highest and smoothest idle. each should be about 1 turn out or less.

If there is an open vacuum port make sure it is blocked before and after any adjustment.

It looks like a Ford/Holley 94 type carb. The ones with the vacuum port for the distributor about halfway up the carb are for '49 to '53 239 8BA's or EAB's.
The extended throttle shaft with the lever for the hand throttle was used from '39 to I believe '48. Looks like maybe an 8BA/EAB carb with an older base, or modified base to put on the lever for a hand throttle.

It looks like a Holley 94 Carburettor its not really suitable for 1932 -33 Ford V8s until it is recalibrated because these engines were set up for the Detroit Lubricator carburettor.

I see it is a two barrel possibly a 94. You should be able to get some thing on line. Try GOOGLING it.

That indeed is a chandler Grove style 94 carburetor but that one shown is a Holley 2100. It’s a good carb and what seems to be the issue with the carb? I have a NOS Holley car in the box with instructions. As Holley made a 1-2 carb with a external power valve ..

The external power valve you are referring to is actually a spark control valve for the vacuum signal to the distributor on '54 and later carbs.

The '33 has a 221 cubic inch engine and so does the engine this Holley 94 came from. Does not need to be recalibrated.
