1963 1/2 galaxy w/427 side oiler?
hello, i am looking at buying a 1963 1/2 ford galaxy with 427 side oiler engine. my problem is that i do not know much about the side oiler. the vin says it should have a 390 in it. is there a place where i can check the casting numbers on the engine block to make sure the engine is what the owner says? i have looked all over the internet and can't find a engine decoder for that year or model. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Kevin, a 63 427 was a center oiler block. The side oilers did not come out until 1965. If it is supposed to be a stock numbers matching set-up it would not have a side oiler. Look on the drivers side of the engine close to the back from underneath the car just above the oil pan rail on a cast in pad is where the engine casting number is. get this number and post it. I can look it up for you. If you just want a 427 galaxie the side oiler is the better engine. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |
