I had a twin carb unit from motor city that I sold a month ago as I replaced it with a Hexagon tool air cleaner. I can't think of the company but they are out in california, I believe that they make another style without the name. As soon as my old brain can remember I will re post it.

Back in the day there were a bunch of different manufacturers of intake manifolds and they all probably have some differences in dimensions. Edmunds stuff fit Edmunds & so on.

Vintage speed web-site has pictures of the two that I am aware of (I don't know if he has them available though). They can be made to fit most dual manifolds.

Thanks! Gets lots of coments from fellow Flathead lovers with the hexagon intake, now with the air cleaner it should really be cool looking. The motor is a bit lonely now though with the car getting ready for a new paint job

Charlie Price in Florida use to sell a remake of the Edmunds cleaner for the close fitting carbs. I think his business is Vintage Speed.

Tom

What is the color code for the gold you use for the engine. I love the look of the engine I am planning to paint mine the same. There are so many type of gold hard to decide.

Thanks
Frenchy

Hey Frenchy, The gold color is from Pasti-cote #223 universal gold. Got mine from the Car Quest store in stone. I like the color also, good luck!

O'Brien over on the HAMB casts a big oval one that is basically a blank canvas for what you need...it can be drilled for whatever carb spacing you have. It is meant to be used with the little hotrod filters hidden inside, not a good idea IMHO, but it is big enough for some adapting to a real aircleaner. KN has a size chart of filters so you could hunt either a big oval one or two single ones big enough not to work as chokes.

Jan,
Why would you hide those wonderful carbs under one big hat?

Mike, you convinced me. and from what i've seen, i looks like the carbs just breath in the hot air comming off the intake, from the bottom of the cleaner. i didn't see any that were open on the sides.thet the cleaner element is exposed.

Pretty easy to fab one up also. No bending required for this style and they use a K&N off the shelf reusable filter.
Just cut the number of holes in the bottom that you require.

PETE, thats what i was looking for. the sides open for good breathing, and i want to get away from these small elements.

Here's a K&N dimensonal chart: http://www.knfilters.com/search/universal.aspx
Pick a filter, build a can.
I would also go through the site and try to find OEM application of the chosen filter, just in case you need to find a replacement at the K-Mart in East Overshoe.

If you have enough hood clearance, you easily double up on the filter elements also.
