Re: Rumbleseat
He is a brave and tough man who already had major medical problems when he made his two nationwide trips a few years ago. Many of us had the privilege of meeting him then and looking over his '34 roadster. Everything has gotten worse and that is all I have heard.
He used to be a major contributor here, and I bet many of you have not read his book...which he made available to us all for FREE. Here is the intro page, with a picture of Paul and his car: http://www.flatheadv8.org/rumblest/intro.htm Scroll down to the bottom and start opening the chapters. |

Re: Rumbleseat
I was hoping to get to meet Rumbleseat on the last New England tour that Chuck Stevens put together in 2010. It was heavily rumored that he would show up when we were at Ol' Ron's place having a great sit down discussion in his shop on Flathead's and also some of his super famous Chili. RS did show up there but a day later than expected due to some 'on the road' problems he encountered. Hopefully, there will be another time to meet up with him. I read every post I could find of his on Fordbarn and several other websites. Also read his book that Bruce mentions and downloaded many of his FB posts into my own files. I wish I had copied those pictures of RS and Ol' Ron at the Salt Flats posted some years ago on the old Fordbarn.

Uncle MAX
i for one will never foget meeting you at the salt Flats in 2006 with Paul Howard. I'm sure you dont remember me with my friend from Rhode Island, because you've got to know so many peoples. But i may have some carb work for you in the near future, as i'm doing what Paul keept telling me, Do a little every day and it will get done. But at 76 years time is getting short. (I"m going to keep plugging) |

Re: Rumbleseat
My son, Mike Burch and I attended the 2009 Ocala Car Show. We met a lot of Fordbarners at the show. Miss Shelly, Marcus Ellis, Vic Piano, Mac Vanpelt were all there as well as Rumbleseat . I know there were several others but because of my CRS I don’t remember.
This is Rumbleseat at the show My son Buddy got a ride in Rumbleseat’s Roadster. Paul seemed like a super nice guy. I am sorry he is having health issues. I wish nothing but the best for him. Keep him in our prayers.

Sorry to hear this. I printed off many pages of his travel reports and re-read them occasionally. Wish him the very best.

Re: Rumbleseat
Hello everyone. Rumbleseat came by for a visit on his North West holiday about 5 years ago. 4Tford and I met up with him at my house. I remember it well! He dragged his oil pan nut on my small speed bump/water deflector and we still have the gouge!
It was a great visit and we all hopped in his roadster and went to Garys Bistro for some lunch. I was amazed at his down shifting to first, how about that! 2000 miles from home! I knew I had a spare tranny but he did'nt need it that day. His engine had an Isky 77B and it had lots of pulling power and torque. Not a real rump rump engine nice and smooth. We had a very enjoyable afternoon and I offered him a guest bedroom but he had planned to meet up with someone on the mainland so off he went. I just wish him the very very best and am honered to have met and spent some time with him. Tom. |

Re: Rumbleseat
Brilliant! On another note: Paul (I'm assuming he is still alive and hasn't left us yet) is a great guy. During one of his posts, he was talking about fixing stripped threads in a Stromberg center sectio. One thing led to another and we were PM'ing each other. A week later, I came home to a small box sitting on my porch. Inside the box was a chromed 97 center section with perfect threads from Paul. Free of charge and he wouldn't take anything for it; not even postage. That's the kind of guy he is. Straight up Fordman and willing to help others out. God Bless You, Paul. I wish you all the best! Re: Rumbleseat
I hope for the best for Paul...he got me steered straight on Hudson steering gears. We PM'd back and forth and then met up at the LARS and I checked out the Hudson steering in his roadster. Great guy...and always willing to help others out.
