Default 8ba anti chatter bars

*UPDATE* so I have an 8ba in a 40 pickup. Everyone screamed that anti chatter bars are a must with a 40 stock rear end. That said, I got a pair of brackets from Mark Seitz....awesome job. Mount great to trans.

However, my stock chatter bars are too long. If you have used the 40 anti chatter bars with a 8ba and Mark Seitz brackets....chime in. PLEASE HELP. Thanks

I have an 8BA in a 40 Ford coupe using modified stock anti chatter rods. They bolt to the bell hosing and the stock frame. What is a Mark Seitz bracket?

I drilled the 8BA block in the standard location to fit to a 35 ford and modified the threaded portion to the length required to get a full nut and some through the block. Just mounted the rear end as normal. Worked well and was easy to do. Using a truck sump and bell.

I used his brackets on my 37, just threaded the rods deeper. Zeke

I didn't use the anti-chatter rods when I put the 8BA into my 34 pickup. I don't notice any adverse effects. Am I missing something? Byron.

I was told on another forum that they would not be needed on my '32 with a '40 rear end. True or false?

Zeke, Fairlane500, & 19Fordy, I like the method / looks on how you resolved. Looks very stock. unless someone brought it to attention no one would know. I have used a bracket adapter as I installed the engine before realizing it would be a prob. Thought of drilling out the bell and modifying the rod by eliminating the shoulder and threading the rod more as you did which would have been easy during the swap. I thought I did all the research but the chatter bars got by me. Didn't want to pull the engine again just to slide the rods in the drilled out holes so went with adapter brackets. works fine but definitely shows as nothing like stock.

From an old thread:
...Mark Seitz @ 330-980-0636. He makes an adapter to bolt on to your late model flathead and your anti chatter rods fit perfectly.... They are about $45, and that includes postage. His address is 5345 Parkman Road NW, Warren,OH 44481....

When I put the 8ba in my '39 p/u I didn't install anti-chatter rods. The clutch would chatter when backing up. I jury rigged some rods and instant no more clutch chatter in reverse. I had looked at the brackets that Mark sells and if I have to pull the floor boards up in the future I'll up date at that time.
