Default Valve removal

Whats good to soak on the valve guides to get them loose? I have been spraying them down every few days with PB Blaster but have 3 or four that I can't get pushed down to get the keeper out. All the valves that came out look good as well as the seats and guides. I would like to re-use all of them and dont want to damage them.

If you can get the keepers off of the valve stem and pull the valve out it makes it easier to drive out the guides. I never reuse the valves, so I cut valve stems and take out the valve in pieces and then drive out the guides.

50.50 mix, but there is a keeper remover that will destroy the keeper you can also use a small vice grip and a large dis pipe.

My first horse shoe clip remover has a long piece of bar stock the had the tip tapered down to a point and an S curve bend to that pointed end. It would take out 90% of the clips without tearing the hole out. The All-Power clip remover will pull all of them out if a person can find one. All-Power also made a wedge knocker tool that powers the valve & spring assembly along with the guide for most of the valves except the ones that are severely crusty. As was mentioned, the keepers can be pulled and the valve removed to get to the guides when they are really stuck. A KD 918 guide puller is also a good investment but a plain 11/32 guide punch will work. If the engine is stripped, a punch will work from either the top or the bottom.

This is a good run down: it shows the All-Power valve knocker

I've got the All-power horseshoe puller and the slidehammer.I never found a valve they wouldn't take out. sometimes it would put them in the rafters.

Just bite the bullet and break the head off the last three valves and use a piece of pipe over the valve stem and pound the guide down until you can pull the clip out with vise grips.
Don’t waste your time using the old valves, the new ones are stainless steal and most likely will be tighter in the guide than old valves.
Besides that, they are low priced.

3 valves ? I'm still confused. Don't you have a valve spring compressor to collapse
the valve spring remove keepers and retainers remove valve then spring the valve
spring out with screwdriver then bang guide down with a 5/8 socket. thats what I do
because by now and all those years the fork guide remover tool is useless.
Disregard all of this if your working on a split guide engine I take this as a 8BA you are
working on...don't bother with the horse shoe clip let it stay on the guide & fool with that
later. Another strong word of caution with these complete valve kits. As a live and learn
we have had guides fail at maybe 200 miles as though they were 3D printed junk from
across the pond.
