Trucks and T-BIRDS were rear sump,no kits available you will have to fab it all here is how:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...=177373&page=2 An SBF 289-302 swap is super EZ with zero clearance issues all you need is a 1980 or later 5.0 which has the correct oil pan and this:http://www.butchscoolstuff.com/store...ct_detail&p=15 If you use a C4 or AOD it makes it even easier you can use an 1986-88 Crown Vic drive shaft with a conversion U-joint and bolt it up to the stock rear which in that case the AOD would be best,AOD's prior to 1993 are also non-computer the 1988-93 have the lubrication upgrades and improved valve body and the overdrive plays well with the stock rear end gears for cruising.

That's kind of and old swap, they used to sell a front motor mount one piece that bolted to timing cover with hock puck rubber mount. You will have to cut fire wall, 302 is better choice. Just think its only one year newer.

No 302. that would be to easy.
besides how many of these cars do you see with a 312 sporting 2- 4's on top.
These Y blocks are my vintage,
I have heard of a motor mount for these , never seen one though.
The oil pan is a must.

To late now but sold that engine kits fews years ago on ebay.
I did that swap 1962 with 312,you have to drop the tie rod for pan clearance.
today can use electric fan,
used to fool a lot of people with the car.

You will need the rear sump oil pan, a dropped drag link, a set of Y block truck headers and either search for an old set of custom motor mounts or make your own. The dropped drag link and custom motor mounts were available back in the day and can be found occassionally on ebay or other internet automotive sites. The truck headers will clear the 50 steering box and give better breathing. You will also need to move the radiator to the front of the radiator support to give youself fan clearance. In fact using a 50 Ford 6 cylinder radiator which already mounts in front of the support work great. It already has the dual hose connections and will not require closing two of the hose outlets as when using a V8 radiator. Of course you can buy a custom radiator but they are costly. You will find that there is quite a bit of speed equiptment still available for the Y block. Good luck.

You could adapt this from a truck:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Truck-Y...86b41a&vxp=mtr And use the universal biscuit mounts from Speedway. This is rare but this is the old Hurst mount:FM-202 try Google and see if one shows up.

Billy Gibbon from ZZ Top has a shoebox with a Y-Block in it. Made all the mags a decade or so ago. "Copperhead" I think it was called. Very nice car.

I found a lot better picture of the front mount. The frame pictured is different than a Shoebox, but the same mount. They apparently were made originally by Hurst for 239 Y's, which used a smaller diameter inlet hose to the water pump. So a relief has to be ground in the horizontal member, otherwise the lower radiator hose cant be attached to the pump on a 272-312 engine.

Do a google search on the Hurst mount and you will find a pdf on the instruction sheet, part of which states to use a truck timing cover and water pump.Looks like getting 292 truck motor as a donor would be a step in the right direction.
